The Bonnet Shade is the conical woven shade at the heart of our Bonnet Pendant Light, sold here as a shade only for those who prefer to wire it themselves or use it with an existing fitting.

Each shade is handwoven from elephant grass by members of SWOPA, the Sirigu Women’s Organization for Pottery and Art in northern Ghana. Its characteristic conical form rises to a considered taper, emitting a warm focused glow that suits dining rooms, hallways, bedrooms, and hospitality spaces equally well. Because every Bonnet Shade is woven by hand, each varies slightly in texture and taper, giving a grouped installation a natural, gathered quality.

The Bonnet Shade works particularly well clustered in groups above a kitchen island or dining table, where the slight variation between hand-woven shades creates a biophilic, organic quality overhead.

Sold as a shade only. Power cord, socket, and bulb are not included. We recommend Color Cord for lighting components. We also offer this shade fully wired as the Bonnet Pendant Light. LED bulbs only. Available in small, medium, and large.
