The Casita Lamp is the work of two Oaxacan artists whose crafts have been passed down through generations of their families. The ceramic base is formed by hand from red clay gathered from the mountains around Santa Mara Aztompa by celebrated potter Eligio Zrate Blanco, whose family has shaped this clay for generations. The palm shade is woven by award-winning weaver Beln Perez Garcia, who harvests indigenous palm leaves from the hills near her home, selecting young leaves for sage green shades and mature leaves for blonde. The colour of the shade is determined entirely by when in the palm’s life cycle the leaf was gathered
Each lamp is unique as a result. The clay base will vary slightly in form, the shade in tone and texture. No two Casita Lamps are exactly alike.
The combination of hand-formed red clay and finely woven palm creates a lamp with a warmth and material depth that sits naturally in bedrooms, living rooms, and on side tables, anywhere that benefits from a considered object that carries a real story.
Wired in Los Angeles to US standards with a vanilla cord and brass fittings. Available with a sage green or blonde shade. Trade pricing available for interior designers and architects.
